VOLUNTEERS - ATHLETICS
XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL, APPLETON
HOME OF THE HAWKS
Many individuals who volunteer their time and talent make significant contributions to the Xavier High School Athletic Department. With their valuable assistance, Xavier is able to provide quality interscholastic sports competition to the student-athletes involved.
Volunteers are often needed in a wide variety of areas all school year long... and sometimes during the summer months. Assistance is needed during Xavier athletic home events, sometimes for prep work leading up to those athletic events, and-or for WIAA events hosted by Xavier -- as well as possibly post-event work, to put away items, clean-up, etc. Previous experience is not always needed, and we can easily instruct you regarding your task.
During the football, volleyball and basketball seasons, the most significant assistance from volunteers comes at the concession stand, ticket gate, or with the actual event -- such as chain crew, scoreboard operator, etc. Very often, parents of incoming freshmen students will be assigned to some of these tasks, and this is a great way to meet other parents as well as become involved with the Xavier Community. Remember, only adult volunteers may help out in the concession stand for Xavier events.
Please check this section often, as it may be updated with more specific volunteer opportunities. Also, inquire with the Xavier Athletic Director, if you are willing to volunteer in any specific way regarding Xavier Athletics. Thanks for your contribution!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: e-mail or contact the Xavier Athletic Director
1 --- All home football games for freshman and-or JVs, now called JV2 and JV1:
For each game, 3 adults needed for the chains and down box plus 1 adult needed to operate the scoreboard. No experience needed, we will train you on game day; sign up in advance with the head coach. Arrive at the game field or press box about 30 minutes before game time.
2 --- Any or all HOME MEETS for Xavier Track & Field -or- the XAVIER INVITATIONAL.
For each home meet, adult and student volunteers are needed during the meet, and sometimes in the days prior to, plus 15-20 minutes immediately following the meet; students need not be athletes on the track & field team, and Service Hours can be earned. Also, contact the Xavier AD about other VOLUNTEER OPTIONS for Track & field.
3 --- more opportunities may be added here. Please check back, or, check with the Xavier Athletic Director.
