Kathy Bates was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame during the 2023 statewide AD convention at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  After a career that spanned 45 years as a teacher, coach and administrator, all at Xavier High School in Appleton, she retired in 2021.

One of the first female high school athletic directors in the state, Kathy was the AD at Xavier for 29 years.  She served on the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association statewide Board for 18 years, having repeatedly been elected by her colleagues across northeastern Wisconsin.  She is only the 6th female AD inducted into the WADA Hall of Fame.

During those almost three decades as AD before her retirement, Kathy was a valuable and respected member of the WIAA Sports Advisory Committee. She was among the ADs instrumental in providing input and shaping all high school sports for the entire state of Wisconsin.  Her prestigious career had a tremendous impact on so many student-athletes for so many years.   READ MORE:   Bates Hall of Fame -- pdf      WATCH:  WADA Video
